Churchill County was represented at TravelNevada’s 2019 Rural Roundup tourism summit on April 10-12 at the Fallon Convention Center.

With a trade table full of Churchill County-made products from Lattin Farms, Rau Honey, Frey Ranch Estate Distillery, Churchill Vineyards, Telegraph Coffee and Desert Oasis Teff & Grain, Public Information Officer Anne McMillin and Churchill County Museum Director Dan Ingram welcomed summit attendees and explained some of the county’s visitor highlights such as the museum.

Summit attendees had the opportunity to select one of four activities planned by summit sponsor the City of Fallon that also highlighted what this community offers: drag strip racing at Top Gun Raceway, off-road vehicles at Sand Mountain, shooting at the Fallon Trap Club and craft-making at the City-County Gym on Venturacci Lane.

Churchill County’s own Valerie Serpa, executive director of the Churchill Arts Council, presented a history of the successful conversion of the former Oats Park School into the thriving Churchill Arts Council at one of the breakout sessions during the conference.

Food for the entire conference was provided by local caterers including Telegraph Coffee, Courtyard Café, the Slanted Porch and Fallon Food Hub.

TravelNevada’s Rural Roundup is an annual conference highlighting the tourism opportunities in Nevada’s rural counties and draws state tourism officials each year to a rural community. Next year’s summit will be in Virginia City.
