Emergency Management

Responsibilities

The Emergency Management Department is responsible for:

  • Providing public support during emergency and disaster situations
  • Providing logistic support for first responders during emergencies
  • Coordinating shelter and evacuation for the public during disasters, whether natural or man-made

This channel directs water from the weirs on the V-line irrigation canal below Lahontan Dam across the desert to Carson Lake south of Fallon, thereby lowering the water level in Lahontan Reservoir to help mitigate the threat of floods during high water years.
